Morningside vs Rambler Ski Goggles

Both use BOLD's magnetic quick-change lens system, but they fit and feel a little different. Morningside is our frameless standard-fit goggle; Rambler uses a traditional frame and gives you more room side to side. Here's how to choose.

Which one should I choose?

Morningside

Frameless · Cylindrical lens · Standard fit

  • You like a frameless look.
  • You want BOLD's standard fit.
  • You like a taller view, top to bottom.
  • You may want a narrower or wider size later: the XS and Max share its frameless style.

Rambler

Traditional frame · Toric lens · Standard to roomier, more room side to side

  • You prefer a traditional framed goggle.
  • You want a little more room side to side.
  • You like the curve of a toric lens.
Shop Rambler · $179

Neither is better; it comes down to fit and feel. If your face is wide, look at the Morningside Max rather than the Rambler. If it's narrow, look at the Morningside XS.

Lenses don't cross over. Morningside lenses do not fit the Rambler, and Rambler lenses do not fit the Morningside. Each family's OTG and Low Bridge versions take that family's lenses. The Morningside XS and Max each have their own lenses too. Not sure which goggle you have? See Which BOLD Ski Goggle Do I Have?

Face fit

From narrowest to widest across the BOLD adult range:

  1. Morningside XS: narrow
  2. Morningside: standard
  3. Rambler: standard to roomier, a little more room side to side
  4. Morningside Max: wide

The Rambler is roomier than the Morningside, but it isn't a wide-fit goggle like the Max. Not sure where you land? Take the Ski Goggle Fit Guide quiz.

Lens shape

Morningside: cylindrical. The lens curves side to side around your face and is nearly flat top to bottom.

Rambler: toric. The lens curves in both directions, with a flatter curve top to bottom than side to side.

Neither shape is automatically better; fit and choosing the right lens for the light matter more. For which lens to use when, see the Ski Goggle Lens & VLT Guide.

Versions

Morningside family

Also frameless, but separate frames with their own lenses: Morningside XS (narrow) and Morningside Max (wide).
